Happy #TimeWarpTuesday!
This week we are heading back to the 1940's and 50's, a time when Read Street and surrounds in East Victoria Park was a quiet little oasis, compared to the busy hum of activity that they are today.
Barbara Walker (nee Ford) grew up at 7 Read Street, East Victoria Park, and has wonderful memories of the time. In fact she is still friends to this day, with the little girl Lois MacArthur (Barden as she was then) that lived nearby. Barbara recently allowed us to digitise some of her family photographs from this time, and she donated these to the Local History Collection. One delightful photograph captures forever the childhood fun of playing with dolls and prams and friends. We hope you enjoy this trip back in time.
