BorrowBox

BorrowBox is an award-winning Australian App that enables WA Public Library and State Library members to browse and borrow bestselling eBooks and eAudiobooks on your Apple or Android device for limited periods, through digital loans.

Borrowing limit Ten eBooks and ten eAudiobooks (including reserved titles).
Reserves Reserve up to ten eBooks and ten eAudiobooks (includes current loans).
Loan period Two weeks (14 days). Titles are deleted from your account once the loan period is finished.
Renewing items Loans can be renewed twice.
Returning items You can return titles before they expire, increasing your available loans. If you do nothing, the app will remove them automatically when the loan period is finished.

To access BorrowBox: Connect via the website.

To create a BorrowBox account: Register as a Victoria Park Library member with your membership card number and password/pin and sign in. Note: The PIN number for this platform is the same one you use to log into the library catalogue. If you have forgotten your PIN number you can reset it via the catalogue.

To read/listen on a computer: Download and install Adobe Digital Editions to read eBooks on your computer and listen to eAudiobooks via your computer's media player. (Visit the Help section of the website for step-by-step instructions.)

To read/listen on a device: Download and install the free BorrowBox App to your device, borrow titles, then download them directly to your device. (Visit the Help section of the website or read the user guide for step-by-step instructions.)

hoopla

hoopla is a digital media service that allows library members to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, comics and TV shows to enjoy on their computer or mobile device with no holds or waiting. hoopla offers a massive catalogue of more than 900,000 titles (and growing) which are instantly available to members.

Borrowing limit Members can borrow up to 4 instant titles per month
Reserves As there is simultaneous access there is no need to reserve titles. However you can add titles to your Favourites so you can access them later
Loan period 3 days for videos(movies and tv shows), 7 days for music albums and 21 days for eAudiobooks, eBooks and eComics


To access hoopla: Connect via the website

To create a hoopla account: Click Get Started, then enter your email address and password. Search for Town of Victoria Park Library, then add your library card.

Note: In order to access this resource you must have a Victoria Park Library card. Our cards all have the prefix CL130V.

To watch on a computer: Read, watch or listen from your web browser.

To watch on a device: hoopla has an app for both iOS and Android-based devices. Download hoopla from the Apple App Store or Google Play store.

Note: if accessing hoopla on a mobile device you must download the app. It will not work through the mobile browser.

You can also access hoopla via Amazon or ChromeCast.

Libby

WA Public Library and State Library members can borrow and read or download thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks. Sign in with your Library card to enjoy digital books on your computer, tablet, smartphone or eBook reader anytime, anywhere.

Borrowing limit 10 items
Reserves Reserve up to five items (excludes current loans). You will be notified once the title is available to download. Note: you need to add an email address in the Manage Notifications section.
Loan period 7, 14 or 21 days. After you select Borrow, select the underlined loan period on the confirmation page. Then select a new loan period for that title.
Renewing items Loans can be renewed from the Loans Page. Select 'Manage Loan', ‘Renew Loan’, then ‘Renew’.
Returning items You can return titles before they expire by selecting 'Return' under the title you'd like to return.


To access Libby: Connect via the website.

To set up a Libby account: Register as a Victoria Park Library member with your membership card number and sign in.

To read on a computer: Read your borrowed titles online from your web browser. Note: the website works best in up-to-date versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.

To read on a device: Download and install the free Libby app - Apple or Android - to your device, then download titles directly to your device. Or if you have a ereader that's compatible with Adobe Digital Editions (ADE), you can download Libby books on a computer, then use ADE to transfer them to your device.

Project Gutenberg Australia

The Project Gutenberg Australia website provides access to free ebooks, with over 4,000 titles to choose from. All books are in the 'public domain' (not subject to copyright) in Australia and all have been prepared by volunteers. Anyone can access this website - no Library card is required.

To read on a computer: Use your web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome to read either TEXT or HTML ebooks. Visit the HELP section for more information if needed.

To read on a device: Once downloaded to your computer, ebooks can be transferred to an e-reader or tablet. You will need to consult the user guide accompanying your e-reader or tablet on how to do this. Visit the HELP section for more information if needed.
