Time Warp Tuesday - 19 November 2024

Published on Tuesday, 19 November 2024 at 4:46:02 PM

It’s #TimeWarpTuesday and today we are headed back to August 2004 and the last days of the Somerset Pool, sometimes known as the Somerset Street Pool. Demolished in 2004 to make way for the redevelopment of the site into the modern swimming pool facilities that exist today.

These photographs were taken by Alex Sheridan, and whether by chance or not, the fact that the images were captured towards the end of the day, is an interesting tie into the pool’s last days. The sunset, if you will, on memories of one treasured place in the Town before the dawn of a new day and the facilities of Aqualife opened.

If you have stories or photos to share that document life in Victoria Park and its suburbs, please get in touch with use here at the Library.
